The short version

  • Mendu is a meal-planning subscription. It is not medical advice. Check with your doctor before changing your diet, especially if you have diabetes.
  • Your 7-day free trial turns into a paid plan automatically unless you cancel before it ends. We'll email you a reminder first.
  • Plans renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel online at any time, in a couple of taps.
  • Monthly plans aren't refunded for partial months. Annual plans can be refunded in full within 14 days of being charged.
  • You're responsible for checking ingredients for allergies. Grocery orders are between you and the store.

1. The agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Hawaiian Breeze Realty LLC dba Mendu, a Hawaii limited liability company ("Mendu," "we," "us"). They cover your use of eatmendu.com, the Mendu quiz, app, menus, emails and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, starting a trial or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

You must be at least 18 years old and live in the United States to create an account or subscribe.

2. What Mendu does

Mendu asks you a short quiz about diet style, allergies, household size, and optional eating patterns (more fiber, more vegetables, less added sugar, lower sodium, more plant protein, or balanced meals). It then creates a personalized 7-day menu with 3 options per meal. Meals are ready in 5 / 10 / 20 minutes on the day; some are made ahead on your prep day. Recipes are scaled for your household. You also get a grocery list for the store you pick. You can print it, copy it, or share it.

Features marked "coming soon" aren't available yet, and we can't promise when they will be. Store sale notes depend on stores that agree to share them, and they won't be available in every area. We may add, change or remove features over time. If we remove a core feature you've paid for, we'll tell you and you can cancel.

3. Mendu is not medical advice

Please read this carefully. Mendu provides general nutrition information and meal ideas for educational purposes only. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for diagnosis, treatment or care from a doctor, registered dietitian or other qualified health professional. Using Mendu doesn't create a doctor-patient or dietitian-client relationship.

Mendu does not claim that any food, recipe or meal plan cures, treats, heals or prevents any disease or condition. Our menus are not a "detox" or "cleanse," and Mendu is not a weight-loss program. We don't promise any particular health, weight or other result.

If you have diabetes or prediabetes, or take insulin or other glucose-lowering medication, talk to your doctor or diabetes care team before using Mendu's menus, including the diabetic-friendly style. Changes to what and when you eat can affect your glucose and your medication needs. The same applies if you take other medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are under medical care, have kidney disease, a digestive condition or a history of disordered eating.

Don't ignore professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read on Mendu. If you think you're having a medical emergency, call 911.

4. Allergies, intolerances and food safety

You can tell Mendu about allergies and foods you avoid, and we'll try to leave those ingredients out. But you are responsible for making sure the food you buy, cook and serve is safe for you and everyone you cook for. Please:

  • read every ingredient label, since products and recipes change and brands differ;
  • watch for cross-contact in packaged foods and in your own kitchen;
  • double-check substitutions and store-suggested replacements before you buy them;
  • follow safe food-handling, cooking and storage practices.

Mendu can't guarantee that any recipe or grocery list is free of a particular allergen.

5. Nutrition information is an estimate

Calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, sodium and other nutrition values are estimates. Values are estimates from USDA FoodData Central data, some from product labels. Real values vary with brands, portion sizes, ripeness and cooking. Cooking times are approximate too. Don't rely on Mendu's nutrition figures for medical decisions, such as dosing insulin. Package-size and food-waste figures are also estimates.

6. Your account

Please give us accurate information, keep your password private, and tell us right away at hello@eatmendu.com if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for activity on your account. Each subscription is for your own household's personal, non-commercial use.

7. Plans, prices and billing

Every plan includes the same features. Plans differ only by household size:

PlanHouseholdMonthlyAnnual
Solo1 person$7.99 / month$59 / year
Household2–4 people$11.99 / month$89 / year
Big Family5–8+ people$14.99 / month$109 / year
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us (through Stripe) to charge your payment method for your plan, plus any applicable taxes (such as Hawaii general excise tax), at the start of each billing period. Mendu doesn't store your full card number.
  • Prices are in U.S. dollars. The price and billing frequency are shown before you confirm and in your account settings.
  • Price changes: we'll email you at least 30 days before a price change applies to your plan. The new price starts at your next renewal after that notice, and you can cancel before then.
  • Changing plans: you can switch plans in your account settings. Upgrades take effect right away, and we'll charge the difference for the rest of your billing period, which we'll show you before you confirm. Downgrades take effect at your next renewal.
  • Failed payments: if a charge fails, we'll let you know and retry. If we can't collect payment, we may pause or end your subscription.
  • Groceries are not included in your subscription. You pay the store or delivery service directly (see section 12).

8. Free trial

  • New subscribers get a 7-day free trial of the plan they choose. You'll need to add a payment method to start the trial.
  • Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it automatically converts to the paid plan you selected, and your payment method will be charged the plan price on day 8 (exactly 7 days after the trial began), then every month or year after that until you cancel.
  • We'll email you a reminder at least 2 days before your trial ends, with the date and amount of the first charge and a link to cancel.
  • If you cancel during the trial, you won't be charged, and you'll keep access until the trial ends.
  • Free trials are limited to one per person and household. We may decline or end trials that abuse this offer.

9. Automatic renewal

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price for your plan, and we'll charge your payment method on file, until you cancel. For annual plans, we'll email you a renewal reminder 15 to 45 days before your renewal date, with the price and how to cancel. After you sign up, we'll send you a confirmation email with these renewal terms, the cancellation policy and how to cancel.

10. How to cancel

You can cancel at any time, online, without having to call anyone:

  1. Sign in at eatmendu.com and go to Account → Billing.
  2. Tap Cancel subscription and confirm.

You can also email hello@eatmendu.com with the subject "Cancel my subscription" from your account email. We'll confirm your cancellation by email. Cancellation stops future renewals, and you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. There's no cancellation fee. If you cancel, your account and saved menus stay available until you delete them (see our Privacy Policy).

11. Refunds

  • Free trial: there's nothing to refund. Cancel before the trial ends and you won't be charged.
  • Monthly plans: payments aren't refundable, and we don't give refunds or credits for partial months. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of that month.
  • Annual plans: if you cancel within 14 days of being charged for an annual plan (the first charge or an annual renewal), email hello@eatmendu.com and we'll refund that charge in full. After 14 days, annual payments aren't refundable, but you keep access for the rest of the year and the plan won't renew.
  • Refunds go back to your original payment method through Stripe, and usually arrive within 5–10 business days.
  • If the law where you live gives you more rights, those rights apply. We may also give refunds or credits at our discretion, for example if a technical problem on our side kept you from using Mendu.

12. Grocery orders and stores are third-party services

Mendu builds your grocery list for the store you choose. Mendu does not sell, buy, deliver, place, or pay for grocery orders. You review the list and pay the retailer on the retailer's own site, or you shop in the store. Print the list, copy it, or share it. If a cart button is available for your store, it only opens that retailer's site with items ready for you to review.

  • you choose the store, the time and the payment directly with that retailer, under its own terms, prices, fees and privacy policy;
  • your order, including substitutions, availability, pricing, delivery, quality, refunds and food safety, is between you and that retailer. Mendu isn't a party to that transaction and isn't responsible for it;
  • products a store matches to your list may differ from the recipe, so please check items (especially for allergens) before you buy.

Weekly specials appear only after a store agrees to share them. Mendu does not rank stores by price. Any dollar figures Mendu shows are estimates from typical package sizes. The retailer's price at checkout is the one that applies. Store names are trademarks of their owners, and Mendu isn't affiliated with or endorsed by them unless we say so. A Walmart cart link, when it is turned on, is a paid link.

13. Acceptable use and content

  • Please don't misuse the Service. That includes trying to access other people's accounts, scraping or copying our recipes or menus in bulk, reselling access, reverse-engineering the Service, or using it for anything illegal.
  • Mendu's recipes, menus, text, graphics, software and brand belong to Mendu or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use them for your own household while your account is active. Printing your menus and lists for home use is fine.
  • If you send us feedback or recipe ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

14. Disclaimers

We work hard to make Mendu useful and accurate, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, Mendu disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any recipe will suit your health needs, or that you'll get any particular result. Some states don't allow certain disclaimers, so some of these may not apply to you.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • Mendu and its owners, members, employees and partners won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from or related to the Service. This includes health outcomes, allergic reactions, or grocery orders placed with third parties, even if we were told such damages were possible.
  • Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Mendu in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) $50.

These limits don't apply where the law doesn't allow them, for example liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence where such limits are prohibited.

16. Indemnity

If you misuse the Service or break these Terms and a third party makes a claim against Mendu because of it, you agree to cover Mendu's reasonable losses and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) related to that claim, to the extent the law allows.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you have a concern, please email us first at hello@eatmendu.com. Most issues can be sorted out quickly that way, and we'll try in good faith for 30 days. If we can't resolve it, any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Honolulu, Hawaii, and you and Mendu consent to those courts' jurisdiction. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies. Nothing here takes away consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of the state where you live.

18. Changes to these Terms; ending the Service

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll email you or notify you in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Mendu after that, the new Terms apply. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the change takes effect. Changes to prices follow section 7.

You can stop using Mendu and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we'll give reasonable notice and refund any prepaid, unused portion of an annual plan.

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Mendu about the Service. Our not enforcing a provision isn't a waiver of it. You may not transfer these Terms. We may transfer them as part of a merger, sale or reorganization.
