The kitchen

Kitchen tools we like

A short list of tools that make a Mendu week easier. You do not need to buy any of them. A skillet, a sheet pan, and a knife cover most dinners.

Food scale

Weighs oats, rice, meat, and cheese so a recipe stays the same for one person or a full household.

Measuring cups and spoons

Cups and spoons for oil, milk, spices, and anything the recipe writes in US measures.

Cutting boards

One board for vegetables and a second for raw meat keeps the prep on a 20-minute dinner.

Chef's knife

One knife covers onion, chicken, and herbs. A sharp edge matters more than a set of six.

Sheet pans

A rimmed half sheet for tenders, vegetables, and anything the recipe roasts.

Skillet

A 10- or 12-inch skillet for eggs, stir-fries, and one-pan dinners.

Instant-read thermometer

Checks chicken and turkey in a few seconds so you are not cutting into dinner to guess.

Meal-prep containers

Lidded containers for a doubled dinner that becomes the next day's lunch.

Slow cooker or Instant Pot

For the nights you want dinner started early. Most Mendu dinners still use a skillet or a sheet pan.
